‘Upakarma’ means beginning or commencement, marks the refreshing of the studies of Vedas and is a significant ritual for a Brahmin to change his “Poonal” once every year to purify his white thread from any kind of “Doshas” or “Theetu”. It is very important that all of us perform this ritual without fail and do prayaschitta for removal of all the sins and secure the divine blessings.
