Pradosham is a span of about 2 hours that exists just around the time of sunset. This is an auspicious period that is said to occur on a Thrayodashi, the 13th thithi or the lunar day of both Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha, the Moon’s waxing and waning fortnights respectively. This period is considered very propitious for worshipping Lord Shiva, the supreme God of destruction, and earn his blessings. This day generally comes twice a calendar month and 24 times a year.
“Pra” means removes, and “Dosham” means sins that is the time that removes sins.
If the Pradosham falls on a Saturday then it is referred as Sani Pradosham, which is considered even more auspicious for Lord Shiva.
